Background: |
OsFTL1 is a florigen-like protein that forms a florigen activation complex (FAC) with GF14c and OsFD1 to activate OsMADS14 and OsMADS15 expression, thereby promoting flowering under both short-day and long-day conditions. It localizes to the nucleus and cytoplasm, with predominant expression in the shoot base. OsFTL2 is a mobile florigen that moves from leaves to the shoot apical meristem (SAM) to induce flowering. It acts downstream of HD1 and EHD1 under short-day conditions and upstream of MADS14 and MADS15. It is expressed in the inner region of the SAM, stem, and leaf blade vascular tissues. |
